Aircraft Structures MechanicSTS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Structures Mechanics to support aircraft maintenance and modification operations in Oscoda, Michigan. This role is ideal for experienced sheet metal professionals who take pride in precision workmanship, structural integrity, and compliance with FAA standards.If you have hands-on experience performing aircraft structural repairs and enjoy working in a fast-paced aviation environment, this is an opportunity to build long-term stability while working on complex aircraft structures.Position SummaryThe Aircraft Structures Mechanic is responsible for repairing, fabricating, modifying, and installing sheet metal parts, components, and assemblies on aircraft. This position requires a strong understanding of sheet metal materials, aviation repair techniques, shop mathematics, and the proper use of tools and equipment common to aircraft structures work.Key ResponsibilitiesShoot and buck rivets to specification in accordance with FAA guidelinesIdentify and work with different aircraft metals based on structural strength and thicknessPerform sheet metal bends in accordance with standard aviation practices and specificationsRemove and replace existing rivets from aircraft structuresFabricate aircraft components using various sheet metal materialsMake repair decisions and understand which repairs are allowable under FAA standardsRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentationFollow written and verbal work instructions accuratelyWork with and around chemicals while adhering to OSHA requirements and PPE standardsComplete and maintain accurate job completion and maintenance documentationPerform additional duties as assignedRequired QualificationsPrevious experience performing aircraft structural repairsWide-body aircraft experience preferredMust provide own toolsAbility to use ERP systems, timekeeping software, and company intranet platformsStrong time management skills with the ability to meet company prioritiesPhysical and Work Environment RequirementsAbility to crawl in and out of confined spacesAbility to work in a prone position for extended periods exceeding four hoursComfortable working at elevated heights of up to 40 feetAbility to lift, balance, and carry up to 50 poundsAbility to work in enclosed hangars and outdoor weather conditionsComfortable working in close proximity to other personnelAbout STS Technical ServicesSTS Technical Services is a Top 100 Staffing Firm partnered with leading organizations across aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, defense, and industrial industries.
